Associate in Claims (AIC) Designation

Featuring NEW AIC Completion Tracks!
The Associate in Claims program teaches you how to reduce time and costs, improve customer satisfaction and retention, and avoid costly lawsuits. With this program, you’ll improve your technical claim handling skills, communication and negotiation skills, good-faith claim handling abilities, and in-depth policy knowledge.

Looking for AIC 35 or 36? The new AIC 31 course provides credit for AIC 35, while the new AIC 32 course provides credit for AIC 36. The course tab below explains the new tracks to completing the AIC designation program and can help you select which course is appropriate for your specific needs.

Passing the required AIC exams earns the Associate in Claims designation.

New! Ethics requirement. The Institutes believe ethical decision-making skills are essential to the practice of insurance. All designation program participants must complete either Ethical Guidelines for Insurance Professionals (for all programs except CPCU) or the CPCU program’s Ethics and the CPCU Code of Professional Conduct course. Both online modules are free. Learn more and register now.

Based on feedback from designation holders, corporate customers, and claims professionals, The Institutes developed several new, specialized completion tracks for the Associate in Claims (AIC) designation program to help participants gain even more practical and relevant technical claims knowledge.

New AIC Tracks:

  • Property
  • Multi-Line Adjuster
  • Liability Claims
  • Personal Auto Claims
  • Workers Compensation

But what if I’ve already started the AIC program?

If you have already started, you have options. If you have credit for at least one AIC course (AIC 33, 34, 35, or 36) as of December 31, 2011, you may:
  • Transition to one of the new AIC completion tracks using the AIC courses for which you already have credit,
    or
  • Complete the requirements using the previous paths by December 15, 2012. Please note that the new AIC 31 course replaces AIC 35 and the new AIC 32 course replaces AIC 36. Depending on your path to completion, you may need to complete one or both of these new courses.

AINS 21—Property and Liability Insurance Principles
Ethical Guidelines for Insurance Professionals (Ethics 311) or Ethics and the CPCU Code of Professional Conduct (Ethics 312)

*Important Note: This course number was previously associated with a course that is no longer offered. Course credits are tracked and applied automatically based on the date the exam was passed. Courses no longer offered do not waive current courses with the same number.
