Associate in Management (AIM)

Through the Institutes´ Associate in Management (AIM) designation program, you´ll gain a solid understanding of management principles and practices. You will also develop the real-world skills you need to effectively manage your team, strategically plan initiatives, and make smarter business decisions.

You can earn the Associate in Management designation by passing the required course exams.

New! Ethics requirement. The Institutes believe ethical decision making skills are essential to the practice of insurance. Starting January 2011, all designation program participants must complete either Ethical Guidelines for Insurance Professionals (for all programs except CPCU) or the CPCU program’s Ethics and the CPCU Code of Professional Conduct. Ethics 311—Ethical Guidelines for Insurance Professionals

Program Options: The AIM 40 and 44 courses are available as self-study courses via printed textbooks and course guides. For the AIM 45 course, students read articles online and answer multiple-choice questions about each article. The AIM 45 course must be completed in 12 months.

Public classes held by third-party providers may be available for AIM courses.

We Recommend AIM for: Administrative and general office staff, agents/brokers, agency principals, claim adjusters, customer service managers, call center managers, line of business managers, and underwriters

Exam Information: AIM 40 and 44 exams are offered at Institutes-approved on-site testing locations and at Prometric Testing Centers. Contact your education coordinator for further information about on-site testing availability.

AIM 40 and 44 exams consist of 85 objective questions and examinees have two hours to complete each exam.

To complete AIM 45, students must answer 150 questions from posted articles and will have 12 months to complete the course. There is no end-of-course exam.
