Associate in Premium Auditing (APA) Program
Increase your knowledge of auditing procedures. You will increase your overall insurance knowledge and become familiar with proper auditing procedures for a variety of situations. The program enables you to perform premium audits in an organized and professional manner. Specifically, you will increase your knowledge of insurance contracts, auditing procedures appropriate to a variety of complex situations, principles of insurance accounting, and the relationship of premium auditing to other insurance operations.
Required Courses
APA 91, APA 92, and CPCU 520 plus either CPCU 540 or 552 are required to earn this designation.

Exam Type
APA 91/92: Eighty-five computer-administered, objective (multiple-choice) questions. Time allotted: 2 hours.
CPCU 520/540/552: Computer-administered essay. Time allotted: 3 hours.
National Society of Insurance Premium Auditors (NSIPA)
The NSIPA confers the Certified Insurance Premium Auditor (CIPA) designation on people who hold the Associate in Premium Auditing (APA) designation and meet certain experience, ethics, and other education requirements. More than 300 people have earned the CPIA designation.
The NSIPA's Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program encourages premium audit professionals to become active in NSIPA and in their industry. Participants earn points by attending seminars, teaching, speaking, testing, and/or serving as an officer or committee person.
